Shimano Ultegra 3500 XSD Competition Reel, The new Ultegra 3500 XSD Competition reel is developed with the fanatic surfcast angler in mind. Compared to the ‘normal’ Ultegra 14000 XSD the competition model has a more shallow spool with a line capacity of 0.20mm-200m. It is packed with Shimano features, like X-SHIP, Super Slow Oscillation, and Aero Wrap II. The spool is very shallow in order to fish with thin lines. There is also a small hole in the spool in order to pull the line through and make a knot on the inside of spool. By doing so the outter surface of the spool stays nice and smooth without knots, eventually increasing your casting- distance and accuracy. Ideal for spodding use.

Shimano Ultegra XSD Competition 3500 Surf Reel. The Ultegra 3500 XS-D will immediatly catch the eye of the avid surf angler because of the major improvement in cosmetics. The multi-disc Instant Drag facility enables a freespool to power setting in just half a turn of the front lever. Packed with unique features like X-Ship, Super Slow Oscillation 50, Aero Wrap II, and Instant Drag the angler can be confident to challenge the biggest saltwater fish out there. Also ideal as a Spod & Marker reel.

Shimano AR-C Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR-C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.

This two-speed oscillation system layers the line onto the spool in a crisscross pattern that reduces line-to-line friction for longer casts. AeroWrap reels utilize a patented worm gear design to move the spool upward quickly and downward slowly to wind the line in a precise pattern, reducing friction, and giving smoother, longer casting ability.
