MAXXIS Tire REKON Race 29 x 2.25 Dual Compound TR EXO
This fast semi slick tire is the newest XC tire from MAXXIS, which won a World Cup victory. The RekonRace was able to do so as a prototype almost a year before the start of the series with Nino Schurter in Mont Saint-Anne. With a profile similar to the Allround XC Rekon tire, but with smaller and smaller cleats, the tire rolls even faster. This gives less resistance to the ground and rolls easier. The more pronounced L-shaped side lugs bite into the terrain and thus give best grip in loose curves, as well as in sloping terrain. The Rekon Race performs best on the rear wheel together with a more profiled tire like the Rekon or Ikon on the front wheel. Or front and back for ShortTrack racing and light fast racing courses.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube loose tires have many advantages: you can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the breakdown risk also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other tubeless ready tires. The bead of the TR tire is like a real UST tube peeling completely covered with a rubber layer. As a result, tube assembly on all rims with standard dimensions is already successful on initial inflation and with little liquid. Even normal MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted like tires of other manufacturers Tubeless with sealant, since the carcass fabrics are very dense.
Officially released for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS are only the new MAXXIS TR models. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of ammonia-containing sealant. Ammonia has been shown to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken up to 30% after a few months.
Dual compound
Two different rubber compounds are processed into a tread strip. Maxxis plans the arrangement of the compounds according to the desired properties of the tires.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
