The Pro Lock process involves injecting a two-component liquid adhesive onto the thread of the nut, resulting in extremely reliable wheel mounting. As soon as the nuts are tightened, the two-component glue begins to react and is completely dry after 6-7 hours. The wheel can be completely uncovered several times, but the adhesive effect decreases with each operation.
Bearings without backlash
The art of designing a durable hub with minimal play lies in the correct preloading of the bearings. Most bicycle hubs are fitted with radial bearings, which are sensitive to lateral forces. Hubs with a clearance adjustment system usually have a fine thread. They allow precise clearance adjustment, but can also generate high axial forces. Quickly subjected to excessive preload, the bearings are then damaged. With many years of experience in optimal bearing preload and knowledge of manufacturing tolerances, DT Swiss is able to design long-lasting, play-free hubs without bearing play adjustment. This design of the hubs also makes it possible to gain in lightness thanks to the absence of threads, which results in a thinner wall. Last but not least: ease of maintenance and quick adaptation to different freewheel bodies and axle systems.
