Padró I Familia – Preiss Imports
Padró i Familia, SL is owned and operated by the 5th generation of the Padró family. The family has been producing vermouth in Spain dating back to 1886 in the village of Brafim, Tarragona.
Through the popularity waves of vermouth, Padró has managed to survive by producing their own wine. Today, they have around 100 acres of 25 year old vines.
Historically the vermouth was delivered in barrels until recently when the first of their bottled brands was born. Their premium line, Padró & Co., launched in 2016, is a fusion of herbs, spices and flowers together with their wine to create an intense and unique experience.
Vermouth Padró & Co. Blanco Reserva
The fifth generation, currently in charge of the winery, are following the same philosophy as their ancestors and producing quality bulk and bottled wine, liqueur wines and vermouths and have taken care to make sure their company keeps up with the times as regards modern wine-making processes and technology (tangential filtration, continuous tartaric stabilization and so on…) at their bottling plant as well as extending the Padró family vineyards and implementing a new grape reception and wine storage facility.
All wines produced were sold in bulk form until 1960, when the fourth generation, Francisco (1934), Daniel (1936-2008) and Jose María (1943) Padro Armengol began bottling some of their production in glass and also in wooden boxes for the cooperative stores of large companies existing at the time.
The third generation, the children of these two brothers, Daniel Padró Armengol (1914-2013) and Francisco Padró Busquets (1906-1993 ), decided to discontinue production of vermouths and other spirits in order to focus on the production of wines and a range of dry and sweet liqueurs.
(1878-1966) Padró Valldosera, joined the business at a young age, in the absence of their father and it was these two brothers who gave PADRO’s industrial activity a real entrepreneurial push. They moved the distillery to larger premises – at the current site of the winery and in 1916, built the first the three main buildings that make up Padró & Co. today, adding a further warehouse in 1932.
Vermouth made from a unique infusion of aromatic herbs and aged in the barrel before bottling at the winery.
Aromatically intense and very pleasant. Memories of sweet herbs such as star anise, lemon verbena, quina and angelica that is well-balanced and complex. It is an elegant, smooth, refined and well-rounded palate with a slight sweetness, and also a certain bitterness. An elegant and citrus fruit finish ensures freshness and a superb aftertaste giving this vermouth a gourmet touch.
Vermouth Padró & Co. Blanco Reserva is an infusion of aromatic herbs with the peel of several different citrus fruits. After several months of maceration, they add an aged white mistela (sweet wine) that they keep especially for this vermouth.
Vermouth Padró & Co. Blanco Reserva is inspired by the company’s desire to make a vermouth enhanced with the Mediterranean citrus aromas that are so intrinsic to the area around the winery.
Flagship Wines uses a reliable carrier with a robust national delivery network providing a speedy convenient service to UK mainland addresses.
Deliveries are made Monday to Friday and not normally on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays though Saturday deliveries are possible on payment of an additional charge.

If you wish to collect your order from Flagship Wines shop at 417 Hatfield Road, St Albans, AL4 0XP please click on this option at checkout. There is no charge for this service.
Delivery Charges
Delivery in St Albans is FREE for orders over £85, for orders less than £85 the charge is £5.
Postal delivery of tasting tickets and vouchers is also FREE if this option is chosen.
Our standard national delivery charge is £10 and is FREE for all orders over £250. The standard delivery is next day for all orders placed by 12noon and the following day for all orders received later than that.
Arrangements in case you’re out at the time of delivery
Please leave clear instructions in the special instructions section on the checkout page so the wine can be left in a safe place to suit you. As our delivery service requires a signature then if your wine is not signed for it is left at your risk and losses are not replaceable. If instructions are not left a card will be put through your door asking you to contact the carrier to arrange re-delivery or collection within 2 days.

For charges applicable for delivery to remote addresses such as the Scottish Highlands and Islands please note that different charges apply and these are clearly shown at checkout. The charges are per case of 12 x 75cl bottles and the delivery time will be a little longer due to the location.

At that time, the export of wine and local brandies from the area around Tarragona was really taking off and parallel to this positive industrial and commercial climate, vermouth was able to take root there as a new wine product.
The Padró & Co. Rojo Classico is a tribute to the vermouth which was sold originally from wine cellars or enjoyed religiously every Sunday at noon. These vermouth’s evoke those herby and slightly medicinal aromas which can transport you back, even now, to the atmosphere inside those local bars and cafés.
